Biography —
Dr. Elissa Lockman is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Special Education at the University of Kansas who works to address environments and practices that support positive outcomes for students with low incidence disabilities. She began her career working as a paraprofessional and special education teacher who collaborated and co-taught in a variety of settings. She has also worked as a professional learning facilitator, providing technical assistance to schools and districts working to address the needs of all learners. Her research and teaching interests include the implementation of equitable education, addressing how environments are built to enable student learning, and effective teacher practices and paraprofessional utilization to promote positive outcomes for all learners.
