School of Education & Human Sciences Earns Top National Graduate Ranking
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Education & Human Sciences is ranked among the nation’s top graduate education programs, earning the No. 8 spot among public universities and No. 16 overall in the latest U.S. News & World Report “Best Graduate Schools” rankings, released April 7.
In addition, the school’s graduate program in special education is tied for No. 1 overall in the nation and ranks No. 1 among public universities.

“This year’s rankings from U.S. News & World Report reflect the continued strength and national leadership of our graduate programs,” said Rick Ginsberg, dean of the school. “We’re especially proud to see our special education program recognized at the very top as our education programs continue to earn distinction among the best in the country.”
In addition to the “Best Graduate Schools” rankings, U.S. News & World Report also recognizes top online programs each year. In the 2026 online graduate rankings, KU’s online graduate education program ranked No. 2 (tie) overall and No. 1 nationally for veterans. The online special education program ranked No. 1, while curriculum & instruction ranked No. 10 (tie) and educational administration and supervision ranked No. 13 (tie).
